  15.4 – Hourglass – Challenge 4   For this challenge I wanted to make a traditional hourglass quilt. Over the last two month, our guild lost two members. In feeling the loss of my quilting friends I just wanted to sew for this challenge and not get too stuck in ideas. For me, half the fun of project quilting is coming up new ideas for my mini quilts. I didn't have the mental energy this round (or last round since I made a rug mug of last resort).   I went on the search for a quick way to make hourglass blocks and I found a Missouri Star tutorial . the next step was to hunt down some charm packs.  My quilt is inspired by 1840's quilts the fabrics range from 1840's-1870's.  I'm an American Quilt Study Group (AQSG) member and I had lots of photos to reference. I used Moda's Regency Sussex and Susanna's Scraps I love reproductions (I guess that's a play on the sex and the hourglass theme!). I had Moda charm packs in my stash and started making blocks. I wan

15.3 – Inside Out  I made a mug rug of last resort! This is my variation of Lori Holt's "Hattie" chicken from her Chicken Salad templates. I had planned on not doing raw edge applique for this challenge but here we go! Last night, I went to my bag of fused scraps (most of it is trash! Next project is to toss it out!) I used my serger to finish my edges instead of a traditional finish of binding or facing. This was my nod to things we don't usually see on the outside. I wasn't going to enter but I'm happy I stuck with it!
