14.5 – Sew Not a Square – Challenge 5 of Project QUILTING Season 14


Saucer Magnolia or Tulip Magnolia Tree Branch by Jodie Solorio


I first thought I would make the Cherry Blossom Project in the Magical Fabric Yo-yos book by Nancy Zieman and Donna Frenski


I traced the branch shape and ironed on the fusible web. I really liked the shape of the branch.





I really wanted to use the Yo-yo makers I purchased at an estate sale.
My yo-yo's were a no go! I just didn't give myself enough time to learn how to use the tools even though it's fairly straight forward.





I had to ditch the Yo-yo's and go with fused flowers that I found in my stash. I decided that my Cherry Blossom would be a Saucer Magnolia or Tulip Tree Branch. I chose to not quilt around the branch and keep the quilting to the edge. I faced the mini-wall-hanging.

  15.5 – Wearables – Challenge 5 For this challenge I was excited to make a Quilter's Coat. The pattern is by Tedi Patterson owner of   ThreadyBearCreations  on Etsy. I was hoping that we would have a clothing challenge. I was ready and waiting!  The pattern starts with a a tractional Indian Kantha Quilt. This was my third coat using this pattern it's so fun, easy and looks cool! I had ordered my fabric in January hoping I would get a chance to make a coat. I'm so happy it worked out! Project Quilting Season 15!  15.1 – Bird House Hello!  I'm excited to join in another season of Project Quilting this will make my 4th year participating. I hope you enjoy my first challenge for 2024. There's Room for Everyone! By Jodie Solorio This was the first time I've made a wholecloth quilt and it was the first time I've used fabric paints instead of applique. As I was brainstorming ideas with my quilt friends it was suggested to keep the flowers in black and white. I thought this was a great idea as it would emphasize the birdhouse.
